Hi Simon
recently being reminiscing about tsd and what a great band they were.
because of my involvement with fleetwood venue, the market tavern and the
assistance of keith 'moggie' morgan from preston,
tsd played a gig at the tavern in 1996? if youwould like a copy of the poster, please let me know.
11/10 for your work on the tsd site.

Just moved back to the Crewe area, I'd lost touch with Cal and thought I'll look on the TSD website see if there's any news, there it was my friend had shed his mortal coil. A dull numb feeling came across me.
Cal had a big effect on my life and ultimately helped me draw my line in the sand and for that I will be eternally grateful.
I first met him in 1997, Jo had been on his case and he had to bite the bullet and get a job, the agency had sent him to work at Epsom Display a shop fitting company where I worked in the stores, we instantly hit it off and by dinner time on his first day we were sharing a smoke sat in his Ford Escort. We had many laughs, smokes and sausage rolls.
I remember one Christmas Eve we both reluctantly turned up to work and both of us had the same idea "lets make the morning a little more bearable". I arrived with a half bottle of Glen Ord and Cal rocked up with some moonshine that he'd get from some guy in Birmingham I think. By 10 o'clock we were ruined. Happy days.
I saw the band play a fair few times, always an amazing experience. A great band with a great frontman that sadly was allowed to slip through the fingers of the music industry. It wasn't just the gigs I loved, it was a the after show get togethers at Fluffs :-D say no more!
One of the most memorable gigs for me was at Nantwich Civic Hall when TSD were supporting The Family Mahone.
I'd been given some GHB a liquid ecstasy and also (which they failed to tell me when I was given it) was a date rape drug that shouldn't be taken with alcohol!
Before the gig we were drinking in the Shakespeare and I was pretty pissed when we got to the civic. The band went of to get ready and I quaffed my GHB. A few songs in and guess what I really didn't feel well at all! I tried to get out of the fire door but a really helpful bouncer wouldn't come around to my way if thinking and wanted my to go out of the main door, I was in the middle of the civic and a torrent of puke emerged in an exorcist kind of style and I was shoved along like a spew sprinkler out of the civic, I can still remember the look and smile on Cal's face as I was ejected.
Cal and i shared loads of music. Some of the stand out bands he got me into were Leftfield, Culture Shock, The Dust Junkys and most importantly the New Model Army a band that had a massive impact on my life.
One thing with Cal he always made me smile I don't remember the jokes just the laughter, apart from one
What's silent and smells of worms?
Bird fart!
I'm left with some great memories but also regrets, I wasn't around for my friend as much as I could or should have been. Almost fitting in a way Cal is still putting me on the right path. Lesson learned.

Dear Simon, I remember you so well - we
called you Dr Snuggles! I am amazed at finding a pic of myself on your
site, and applaud your wonderful tribute to our dear friend Cal. I have
been out of the scene for so many years, and was shocked and devastated to
hear of his death. I hope that you and your family are well, and when I
return in the summer it would be great if we could meet up. Actually, you
might not remember me, so don't worry, just want to say thank you for
keeping TSD alive, and letting the world know that Cal was a star

Hey Simon, I found your website after some time and I was really shocked to hear about Cal. So I searched old photos, scanned and uploaded them. That are all photos I have. Times were really great in France. Unfortunately I do not have any photos from the time we visited you in Crewe. I really want to thank you for the great website. Cheers and happy Easter Frank

Hi Simon,
I was sad to hear (belatedly) of Cal's death, from
the feature in the latest R2 Rock'n'Reel. I met him (and, I think, you) a
few times when you played in the Derby/Notts area with the likes of
Neverland and the Newcranes. I was writing the music page for the Derby
Evening Telegraph at the time, championing the crusty folk scene. Seem to
recall I also played support to a couple of those three-act bills at
places like the Wherehouse, but the memory's not what it was after all
these years!
Cal was certainly a larger-than-life frontman and I'm
sure he and Wolly (Newcranes) used to pinch ideas off each other. I was
very sorry to hear that he'd struggled in later life, but your website is
certainly a fitting tribute. I think a few of us will raise a glass to him
at this May's Off The Tracks festival.
Best wishes,
John

Hi,
I saw Tower Struck Down many years ago when they played at Cropredy.
I thought they were so good I purchased there tape which I played to death (Avebury was my favorite).
Anyway one day my car was broken into and they nicked
the cassette player and guess what was in it .. yep, my Tower Struck Down
tape. I was really sad about it especially as the person I had gone to
Cropredy with had died. I just wanted to say I was really pleased to not
only find your Website but to be able to download the songs which were
part of my past and my memories.

Hi simon.
first of all id like to say
how sorry we all are in Preston to hear of cals passing. the news only hit
here yesterday so we are all still shocked to hear of his death. we used
to watch tsd in the kings arms and the lamb and they were an amazing band.
no others have got a crowd going like the did. they have never been
forgotten here. we still talk about cal and the band and a big group of us
went down to cropready to support them when they opened the festival.
The web site you have made is wonderful. I've been looking through it and
its brought back so may memories.
Anyway, I just wanted to write to you and tell you how sad we all are and what a
massive loss to music this terrible news has brought. You were obviously a
good friend to cal and you've done a wonderful job with the web site.
peace and love,
Kate.

Have many memories of Cal right back to a couple of
rehearsals with Anti Social in some nissen huts at Snape Farm in Weston
circa 1981 me on bass,Dave Klafkowski on guitar & possibly Martin
Gorse on drums (memory is fading !)
I will never forget when he worked at Primebake and he stuffed his pay packet into the pocket of his holey jeans and lost it,all the lads he worked with had a whip round to get him some dosh for the week, the next week he did it again ,typical Cal, he bummed a tenner off me I never saw it again.
Early nineties memories are of the Gigs at the Leisure club, in fact there was
one time when Tower played the Scrapmans Ball and the Leisure Club on the
same night, I remember doing the lights at the club using John Birches
(Beavis) whilst totally out of it.
Another Gig at the Talbot in Stoke, I organized everything from the booking to the posters and the Hire van and not a single person turned up to watch.
The night when some lads tried to get into the Leisure club when I did the doors, Cal and me sorted them out but he broke his hand in the process, and when he went to Leighton Hospital the lad he sorted was in the waiting room too.
And then there are the Jobcentre and Tigertailz Rickenbacker stories!!!
